Italy 2008: We haven’t got much to lose – yet

October 16, 2006

As we just recently showed the soccer world in what we’re able to, I read this article about Italy and its possibilities to win or lose the European Cup 2008. Last summer the whole soccer world was centred in Germany with the question, “Who will win?” As Grosso shot the final goal, Italy had proved the world after 24 years that we still are in tune.

As the qualifications are on, the questions that the whole Europe are waiting to be answered are “Who will make it?” and, “Is Italy going to make it, after all?”

I can’t tell you that, but what I can tell you is that Italy has just gained victory after 24 years of waiting – so what do you expect? Isn’t it correct to let Italy take a deep breath; after all we won the World Cup, hosted the Winter Olympics, won silver with Valentino Rossi in the MotoGP World Championship and had our own conflicts on soccer causing Juventus to drop to Serie B?

I don’t mean it’s not a big deal to win these games. Sooner or later Italy will start the ‘real playing’, I’m sure about that. Italy might be at the moment in worse position than Ukraine, but, if not in these games then later, Italy rise to the top silently and take a good position. Just like it did this year in Germany. We have to allow some recharge to Italy – it has well deserved it.
